Questions, answered.
New to the trail or getting ready for your first weigh-in? Here is how American Bass works — joining, teams, points, and where to watch. For the full format see the rules, and for anything else contact the office.
How do I join, and who can fish?
Anyone can fish American Bass. Become a member, then register for any event on the trail. Your membership carries your home region and your season standings. Start on the join page.
What is a "team"?
American Bass is a team trail: two anglers fish together from one boat as a single team. The team registers together, weighs in together, and earns one shared result and one set of standings.
How do Angler of the Year points work?
What about catch-and-release and penalties?
Bring your best five bass to the scales alive and release them in good shape. A bass that is dead at weigh-in carries a dead-fish penalty, and teams that check in after their flight's time are assessed a late penalty. The exact deductions are in each region's published rulebook; the rules page has the trail-wide format.
How do I find my region and director?
Every region runs its own season on the trail. Open the regions page to find yours, its schedule, and the director who runs its events and answers local questions.
Where are results and the live board?
Finished events post to the results page. While an event is underway, the weigh-in streams to the live board — a banner appears across the site whenever the trail has an event in progress, and you can follow the bags hit the stage in real time.
How does sponsorship work?
Brands ride with the trail as a title or partner sponsor, carried across the site and at every region's weigh-ins. See the options and start the conversation on the become a sponsor page.
Where do the full rules live?
The trail-wide format is on the rules page. Each region publishes its own full rulebook — minimums, penalties, points, and payouts — ahead of the season, so check your region for the local detail.
